Thank you for your interest in Sat Europa. I am Simon Docker, the founder and owner of the company, that I established 10 years ago back in 1997.

The business came about through my hobby of receiving broadcasts from around the world, starting early back in school listening to short-wave radio, and spending most of my family holidays abroad playing with the TV set.

While taking German language qualifications at college in 1997, during my free time I starting taking a career interest in satellite TV, and began finding information sources so I could compile satellite TV news and start a magazine and enthusiasts group. I wrote to the editor of What Satellite TV magazine telling him of my plans, he kindly gave me a free advertisement in their news section to attract subscribers. The first issue of my twice monthly magazine was published on the 15th November 1997.

In 1999 I left college, and continued running the magazine, which had achieved much industry recognition, and attracted a number of feature writers and contributors. By this date we also had a website with online news service, and daily telephone newslines.

I starting making many contacts within distributors and manufacturers from 1999 onwards, and with my understanding of German and knowing Germany was a key European supplier of hardware, I travelled around that country meeting companies. That year we began retailing satellite TV products via our in-house developed on-line shop and via magazine advertisements and brochures.

In 2002 I invested in a major re-launch of our flagship on-line shop - www.sateuropa.co.uk. Later that year I launched a on-line trade shop for our OEM and trade customers, which include: NDS, MET Office, BFBS, BBC Monitoring, BT, Microsoft, Eurosport, Playboy and QVC.

Moving into new markets, in 2007 we launched a second online shop for iPod accessories, PodRocket.co.uk. This is headed by an appointed service center in Fareham.

Our ever increasing product range - currently 750+ on SatEuropa.co.uk - makes us Europe's largest satellite TV stockists, with an aim to bring our customers everything they need for satellite TV - all price-checked against a wide range of potential competitors. Everything we offer is backed up by honest, prompt and knowledgable customer support.
