EBU
European Broadcasting Union

EIRP
Abbreviation for Effective Isotopic Radiated Power, ie the effective strength of the signal broadcast from the satellite. This is the unit of measure for the transmission capability of a satellite in relation to the receiving area. It is expressed in terms of dbW, and is shown graphically in footprint maps.

Elevation
This is the vertical angle the receiving dish must be adjusted to in order to "see" the desired satellite. Azimuth is thus the horizontal dimension, while elevation is the vertical dimension - when both are set correctly, you should be able to view programmes broadcast from the relevant satellite.

EPG
Electronic Programme Guide, an electronic as opposed to a printed programme guide for TV and radio, it is broadcast together with the programmes.

EUTELSAT
European Telecommunication Satellite Organisation, a European authority charged with administering satellite services for member states.

Summary term for the following pieces of equipment satellite dish, feed horn and polariser and converter, also known as LNB.
