Two-way Satellite: How does it work?

A signal is sent from your computer to the decoder, transmitted through the dish to the Satellite, 22,500 miles above the Earth, and then beamed back down to the Earth Station. From there, your request if fulfilled via the fibre/copper network. Once the data - ie. webpage, has been located, it is brought back to the Earth Station, transmitted to the Satellite, and beamed back to your dish.

This system is based on the Hughes DirecWay Technology, which consists of a DW 4020 (triple modem set made up of a receiver, transmitter and a 4-port ethernet hub.) This systems is plug-and-play Mac ready.

There are 12 IP addresses assigned to the system, so for more users you will need an extra LAN Router (which we can supply).

Apart from the Hughes System priced below, we have various other products which may suit your requirements - such as a system where you choose how much bandwidth you need up & down, and a 100% SLA.
